As a crypto community, we often see influencers as problematic, even as scammers. But what if we're just being hypocritical? Is it really wrong for an influencer like Elon Musk to change his Twitter logo to a dog and cause the price of Dogecoin to pump? The growth of a project seems to be more influenced by his antics than by the project itself, but is that really a negative thing? It's Dogecoin, after all - a meme coin.
Let's say you have a bag of Moons, and Elon tweets, "Reddit MOONs seem like a fun way to reward users for their content." This would likely cause the price of Moons to skyrocket. Would we then post about how wrong it is and see Elon as a negative influence, even though he just said something similar about Dogecoin? The reality is that this just brings attention to a project and makes it go mainstream.
I'm not specifically talking about Moons here; it's just an example that most of us know. I think we need to put ourselves in the shoes of someone who has earned a lot of Moons by contributing for a long time. Would you still be against crypto influencers who do something like this? They're simply using their follower base to make things more mainstream. Is the hate deserved?
It's just a though, influencer are everywhere, they show as things we may not have seen before, they aren't just some shillers, Coffeezilla is a influencers.
I made the example of moons because I wanted people to think what would they feel if their hard earn bags pumped because of a guy saying that it was fun project. That's the same thing Elon receives hate for
