Greed, loss and regret.

In 2021, I found a promising DeFi project. I invested around $6,000, and after just a couple of months, I had over $1 million in unrealized profit. I couldn’t sell all of it because the tokens were locked and would only unlock slowly over the next year. However, they were transferable, so I could sell them to someone at about a quarter or half of their price. I had around 30,000–40,000 locked tokens and about 5,000–8,000 unlocked tokens. The peak price of the token was around $25. I had around $200K I could cash out any time.

I got greedy. Instead of selling, I actually bought more locked tokens. I also invested the rest in NFTs. The project eventually died out, and I was forced to sell all my tokens for about $5,000, and invested it all in NFTs which I eventually lost too. I was new to crypto and hadn’t experienced what they call “the winter season.” I didn’t think about buying and holding Bitcoin or Ethereum, or cashing out some to put in my bank account. I was stupid. I thought the price would continue to rise. I felt like I was on top of the world and that nothing else mattered at the time. I still regret my decisions to this day.

I took a break in 2022 and only came back earlier this year. I started with $500 and earned $20,000 from memecoins. I cashed out $10,000 (when Solana was around $120) out of fear of losing it all again. I used that money to buy a small property. The rest I gambled on more memecoins and lost. I now have only $3,000 left, and I feel like a huge stupid fuck for messing it all up. I wish I bought at least one bitcoin at 30K. The regrets are killing me inside everyday.
