Question: Public BTC Nodes

Bitcoin Reddit

Hey guys, Just finished setting up my private node and in the process of creating vpn configs for each of my family/friends to securely connect and use my private node rather then public servers like blockstream... I was thinking; why doesn't a place exist where you can view all public nodes running Bitcoin core? Or does it? This might allow you to chose a 'custom' node rather then the default 4-5 that most wallets give you; hopefully putting your trust in another small-time bitcoiner or even miner, rather then a large data collection corporation...

I understand most private servers are behind a firewall and not all public servers would be using default/known credentials for RPC, but could it be possible?

Just a thought, does this already exist or am I missing something?
